Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared the commencement of the “PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana,” which intends to supply up to 300 units of free energy per month to illuminate one crore households. Subsidies will be paid out under the plan straight to people’s bank accounts.

The Muft Bijli Yojana intends to supply up to 300 units of free energy every month in order to light up one crore households. According to Modi, the project would require more over Rs 75,000 crore in funding.

“We are launching the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana to further sustainable development and people’s wellbeing,” stated Modi in a post on X. This project, which would cost more than Rs 75,000 crore, will provide up to 300 units of free power each month in an effort to light up 1 crore houses.”
The prime minister said, “The central government will ensure that there is no cost burden on the people.” This will include substantial subsidies that will be sent straight into people’s bank accounts and highly advantageous bank loans.

He stated that a National Online Portal will incorporate all stakeholders.

Modi stated that incentives would be provided to urban local bodies and panchayats to encourage rooftop solar systems within their jurisdictions in order to popularize this plan at the grassroots level.

“At the same time, the scheme will lead to more income, lesser power bills and employment generation for people,” stated the prime minister.

How to apply for the Bijli Yojana, PM Surya Ghar Muft:

1) Open https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in

2) Click Apply for Rooftop Solar

3) You have to register first with these details – State, Electricity Distribution Company, Electricity Consumer Number, Mobile Number, and Email.

4) Once done, login with your mobile number to proceed furter.

5) You can now apply for the Rooftop scheme. You have to submit bank detail at any stage of the application.

6) Once you get the feasibility approval, get the plant installed by any of the registered vendors in your DISCOM

7) Once installation is completed , submit the plant details and apply for net meter.

8) Commissioning certificate will be generated from the portal, after installation of net meter and inspection by DISCOM.

9)Once you get the commissioning report. Submit the bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal. You will receive your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.
