Update on Lok Sabha polls: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared that, in its initial list of 195 nominees for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, 33 sitting Members will be replaced by newcomers.

Five candidates are listed for Delhi, including Chandani Chowk resident Praveen Khandelwal, who is replacing two-term MP and former Union Minister Harsh Vardhan. Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi will be replaced as the saffron party’s candidate from the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat by Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj.

Ramesh Bidhuri was replaced by Ramvir Singh Bidhuri from South Delhi by the BJP. The BJP nominated Kamaljeet Sehrawat to succeed two-term MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma from the West Delhi seat.

Seven sitting MPs in Madhya Pradesh have been replaced. Bharat Singh Kushwaha, a Gwalior native, was appointed by the saffron party to succeed MP Vivek Narayan Shejwalker.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, a Union Minister, was selected from Guna, replacing Krishnapal Singh Yadav. MP Ramakant Bhargava is presently holding the position of former Vidisha chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Alok Sharma will run in Bhopal rather than Sadhvi Pragya Singh.

Lata Wankhede, the BJP’s contender for the Sagar Lok Sabha constituency, has been chosen to succeed Rajbahadur Singh. From the Tikamgarh seat, Virendra Singh Khatik will run for office. Anita Nagar Singh, the party nominee, will run from Ratlam.
